The mouth cavity is tubular, with a narrow diverticulum or stomochord extending up into the proboscis. A groove lined with cilia lies just in front of the mouth and directs suspended food into the mouth and may allow the animal to taste. Research indicates that the rate of feeding of acorn worms that are detritus feeders is dependent on food availability and flow rate. Others feed on organic material suspended in the water, which they can draw into the mouth using the cilia on the gill bars. Many acorn worms are detritus feeders, eating sand or mud and extracting organic detritus. Acorn worms move only sluggishly, using ciliary action and peristalsis of the proboscis. Some produce a bromide compound that gives them a medicinal smell and might protect them from bacteria and predators. ![]() The skin is covered with cilia as well as glands that secrete mucus. The creature's mouth is located at the collar behind the proboscis. The body is made up of three main parts: an acorn-shaped proboscis, a short fleshy collar that lies behind it, and a long, worm-like trunk. ![]() Most acorn worms range from 9 to 45 centimetres (3.5 to 17.7 in) in length, with the largest species, Balanoglossus gigas, reaching 1.5 metres (5 ft) or more. ev, efferent vessel passing into ventral vessel ( vv). dv, dorsal vessel passing into central sinus ( bs). c, arrow intended to pass from 1st gill-pouch through collar pore-canal into collar-coelom ( cc). b 1, arrow from central canal of neurochord ( cnc) passed out through anterior neuropore. The body length normally range from 2 centimetres (0.79 in) to 2.5 metres (8 ft 2 in) ( Balanoglossus gigas), but one species, Meioglossus psammophilus, only reach 0.6 millimetres (0.024 in). It is assumed that the ancestors of acorn worms used to live in tubes like their relatives Pterobranchia, but that they eventually started to live a safer and more sheltered existence in sediment burrows instead. However, the early 21st century has seen the description of a new family, the Torquaratoridae, evidently limited to the deep sea, in which most of the species crawl on the surface of the ocean bottom and alternatively rise into the water column, evidently to drift to new foraging sites. Until recently, it was thought that all species lived in the sediment on the seabed, subsisting as deposit feeders or suspension feeders. Two families- Harrimaniidae and Ptychoderidae-separated at least 370 million years ago. There are 111 known species of acorn worm in the world, the main species for research being Saccoglossus kowalevskii. The closest non-hemichordate relatives of the Enteropneusta are the echinoderms. You’ll see a list of nearby locations to choose from, but if you don’t see what you’re looking for, go ahead and type in the name of the business you want to tag. How to Do It: After choosing and filtering your photo, click the Add Location option. Location tagging is great, but if you want to get the attention of a business, it’s best to or tag them in the photo as well. Location Tags are great for your followers, and sometimes business owners will check them, too - but because they don’t get alerts when their locations are tagged, they’re not as likely to check them. Location Tags appear at the top of your picture once you’ve posted, and they’re a great way for your followers to be able to find the businesses you’re promoting. Add a Location Tag to Your Instagram PhotoĪ Location Tag adds a mapped location to your photo so anyone who checks out your profile will be able toįind the spot where you took it. Click on a spot in the picture, then type in the Instagram handle of the company you want to tag (you can also search for the company’s handle at this point). How to Do It: Once you’ve chosen and filtered your photo, click the Tag People option. Most of the businesses I mention haven’t activated photo approval, so it’s not really an issue for me, but it could be a problem depending on who you’re trying to tag. ![]() I have a lot of luck with photo tagging, but here’s one caveat: If the user you’re targeting has changed their settings to require photo approval before a tag goes live, the photo tag may not function exactly like you want it to. I usually use photo tags when I want the company to know I’ve promoted them, but I don’t want too many or hashtags cluttering up my caption. Photo tags are clickable for your followers, and companies get alerts when you tag them in photos. In my opinion, tagging a company in your photo is the second-best option for getting their attention. In that case, you can still use a Location Tag and a hashtag and hope for the best. Still no luck? They may not have an Instagram account. ![]() What if you don’t know the business’s Instagram name? Use the search function on Instagram (it’s the little magnifying glass) to look for the company’s handle. (Once you think you’ve found it, be sure to actually look at it to be sure it’s the account you want and not another company with a similar name.) If you can’t find the company’s Instagram handle using search, try Googling the business name + Instagram, or checking the company’s website for an Instagram icon. How to Do It: When you’re writing your caption, just type the symbol followed by the company’s Instagram handle (be sure there are no spaces between the symbol and the name). But I think an or mention is also often the best way to get the attention of a company, because it triggers an alert for whoever’s handling the account you’re mentioning, so they’ll know you’re promoting them. The most straightforward (and often best) way to tag is to include the company’s Instagram handle in your caption. Why? For one thing, these are clickable, so your followers can easily find the company you’re mentioning and check out their whole feed. Here’s a breakdown of how to tag businesses on Instagram and when to choose each method, including a few examples from my own Instagram account (I’m Use the Company’s Instagram Handle to and Tag the Business There are several ways to tag a business, but some are more likely to be seen than others. ![]() You can use Instagram to promote companies you love and to network with local businesses by promoting their products and services - but for Instagram networking to work, the companies you’re promoting have to know you’re doing it. Midge stood at the mic and came up with the lyrics almost straightaway: “Walked in the cold air, freezing breath on the window pane …” We were extremely arrogant back then and probably too prog-rocky. I said to the guys I was keen to do something that sounded like the late-19th-century romantics, like Grieg and Elgar. Ultravox had just hooked up with Midge Ure, who’d replaced John Foxx, and I wanted to use my classical training. Everyone wanted us to write a track called Berlin or Paris. Then, the moment it became huge, the pressure on us to surpass it with a follow-up was incredible. It was too slow, too long and there was a violin solo – the antithesis of a commercial single. It was about £300, which was a substantial amount of money for someone who normally only bought stuff from Save the Children. The only thing that cost money was the Burberry raincoat, because I’d always wanted one. Everything I wore in the video was from thrift shops. Then you go back to your cold, grey, miserable life in Chiswick. In such a crumbling environment, you could easily fall in love. Why Vienna? There was a decaying elegance about it. You’ve gone to this beautiful place, met someone and vowed it is going to continue – and, of course, it doesn’t. ![]() Vienna was a love song to an imaginary girl. I remember going into the studio with just a line in my head: “The feeling is gone, this means nothing to me – oh Vienna!” That was all I had.Ī lot of what Ultravox did back in the day was soundbites. The cinematic aspect was high on our agenda: every track was for a movie that didn’t exist. The song had the feel of a haunting mid-European classic, thanks to our keyboard player Billy Currie’s classical training. It was cold and miserable, as all these studios are, with sticky carpets and a smell. Ultravox had been dropped by their label, our management had disappeared and we had to scrape around for money just to get into a rehearsal studio. Believe it or not there are still a ton of people who play Quake 2 to this very day, myself included. (Anonymous): To Play Quake 2 online, most people download a client called TheAllSeeingEye (lets people find games based on what they want to play. I think a small section with the various modified clients would be a nice thing to have, the less people using the official clients the better due to the security risks associated with such. I haven't seen a Quake2Max user for a long time. Would a new section be worthwhile?Ħ5.75.74.189 08:57, 4 January 2006 (UTC) Reply From the various Q2 servers I admin, the most common clients are the original 3.20, R1Q2 and EGL, although this is a somewhat biased selection as I encourage everyone to use R1Q2 or EGL over the buggy and insecure 3.20 :). It would be nice to know more about the differences in some of these new clients but they wouldn't really deserve a new page each. Is Quake2Max still the most prominent engine modification? These days it seems EGL, AprQ2 (at least in Europe scene), NoCheat and R1Q2 are the most popular clients. Say CTF to me and my circle of friends and we think of CTF (Threewave's version), and never LMCTF. ![]() standard ctf (with the server side lfire ctf mod) is the only one still being played to any extent today, and in q2's prime I would say it was far more heavily played than loki's minions. The LMCTF world was large and vibrant, and worthy of mention. LMCTF was one of the major CTF mods for Quake 2 - to such an extent that I feel comfortable saying that many people pretty much thought of LMCTF when thinking of CTF and Quake 2. Loki's Minions CTF: I mention this more as a side note. It would be nice to see an addition to the article that explores this aspect of Quake 2.Ģ. Where later games such as Halflife had one mod which acted as a lightning rod for mod visibility (TF again being example of this in Quake 1), the very number of excellent mods made for Quake 2 almost created a scenario where the incredible variety obscured itself. It's titled Quake II Netpack 1: Extremeties - Hardgoodbye 00:29, 28 October 2005 (UTC) Reply If memory serves me correctly, I recall Activision releasing a commerical CD of ten or so of the most popular Q2 mods. There was simply an insane number of very high quality mods made for Quake 2, to an extent that really hit critical mass, as it were. Modding in general: While Quake 1 was the game that many think of as really cracking open the mod element of FPS games (with perhaps Team Fortress being the best example of this), Quake 2 was where mod making exploded. I think two elements could be usefully exapnded upon in this article.ġ. However the engine itself (not the renderers) remains mostly (completely?) unchanged from 3.20. Anyone with more insight? - Darklock 16:55, 27 March 2006 (UTC) Reply This is correct, the GL for Linux was rewritten quite significantly in 3.21 and the Windows GL renderer was also improved to use a different multitexturing technique. I found this note that suggests that version 3.21 was not just a repackaging. ![]() I mostly keep it on my watchlist to watch for linkspam.- Drat ( Talk) 14:14, 12 March 2006 (UTC) Reply I haven't really read this article recently. Darklock 13:03, 12 March 2006 (UTC) Reply Whoops. I remember reading somewhere that the only real difference with 3.21 is that there is some change (possibly a re-organisation?) to make it compile better for Linux.- Drat ( Talk) 12:58, 12 March 2006 (UTC) Reply Come on, you can read it in this article, that does not matter though. Well-known Spanish actor Mario Casas stars in the leading role as Sebastián, and young, rising Spanish actress Alejandra Howard plays the role of Anna. While on their survival journey, they form alliances with other survivors. The main story follows a man and daughter named Sebastián and Anna as they navigate the desolate streets of Barcelona, Spain, to find a way to escape the city. The remaining survivors must walk around wearing blindfolds to hide their eyes from daylight so that the mysterious, powerful entity doesn’t cause them to kill themselves. Taking place in a parallel timeline to the original film, Bird Box Barcelona is set in a post-apocalyptic Spain where a mysterious entity has wiped out the world’s population. The only thing scary about Bird Box is the strong likelihood of a sequel. On July 14, Netflix released the post-apocalyptic thriller film Bird Box Barcelona, and like the first film, it didn’t take long for tons of people to start streaming it. ![]() And don’t get us started on Bullock’s post-apocalyptic hair and makeup - impeccable and totally confounding. When anything like tension starts to creep in, we’re suddenly back on the river for cinema’s most tedious white water rafting adventure. There’s almost zero suspense - how did they manage to botch even the scene with the car sensors! - and the central threat is about as menacing as The Happening’s threatening vegetation. Full respect to director Susanne Bier, who’s done some really great stuff in the past, but the movie feels like it was made by someone wearing a blindfold. There’s a reason we entered 2019 scratching our heads and going, “huh?” The Internet had been hijacked by a new Netflix flick called Bird Box and frankly, we just didn’t get it. No, Bird Box is an Overrated, Scare-Free Mess And by that measure - at least, going by the Internet - Bird Box is a classic. The true measure of a horror flick is whether it sticks in the memory, if its disturbing imagery and spine-shattering scares linger. Also, Bird Box has just confirmed that Trevante Rhodes, whom many of us first met in Moonlight, is a superstar in the making (and that bod, though). What elevates Bird Box, however, are the performances: Sandra Bullock is incredibly compelling as the tough Malorie (“Boy! Girl!”) while John Malkovich keeps things tense in the house with big globs of smarmy menace. There’s a reason we’re entering 2019 with scraped knees and black eyes: Bird Box challenge! And there’s a reason we’re covering our eyes like fools and navigating the twists and turns of our own homes: Bird Box! Susanne Bier’s masterful little shocker is every bit as good as A Quiet Place - there, we said it - a suspense flick with a masterful conceit, killer set pieces, and something to say. In fact, we got so heated about it that we’ve outlined the two main arguments below. The catch? They’re blindfolded the whole time to protect themselves against supernatural entities that cause your death if you see them.
